Since 1910, Scouting has taught timeless values, strengthened leadership skills, and guided America’s youth on their journey to adulthood. In recognition of its 100th birthday, the Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America, is hosting a Centennial Celebration on the ND State Capitol Grounds in Bismarck, ND on June 4-6, 2010.

This once in a lifetime celebration will showcase ‘Scouting in Action’ – camping on the Capitol grounds, Scout historical displays at the Heritage Center, Cub Scout and Boy Scout skills and activities, the world’s longest pinewood derby track, service projects, tours of the Capitol with visits from elected officials, and a spectacular closing program that includes, a Scouting stage production, a special live performance from motivational speaker/magician Giovanni Livera, a laser light show and much more.

The public is invited to stop by and experience ‘Scouting in Action’ on Saturday, June 5. Scout leadership activities and events will begin at 8:00 am and conclude with a closing celebration program beginning at 7:00 pm. Public events include: participation in and donating to the 100 unit blood drive, contributing nonperishable items to our food drive, self guided tours of the Capitol, ND Heritage center historical displays, ‘Scouting in Action’ during the day and the spectacular evening closing celebration event.
